In the last couple of weeks my time and soul has been eaten by two web comics namely Looking for Group and Order of the Stick. I feel that I should be going outside for some healthy recreation or doing something mentally stimulating or even sopping for essentials like food, but instead I snuggle up to my new MacBook Pro and settling in for a good brain jellification. It may be the elation of obtaining a non-Microsoft computer that sends me out in search of things to do while gazing lovingly at my new shiny that has me searching for new we comics o read while I wait for the first two to update.

    <lj:music>"Far Away" - Nickleback</lj:music>

It occurred to me a while back that the world would be a much happier, although more paranoid, place if Hammurabi's Code were used. I only have a basic understanding of the as "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth."
In todays world the soft hearted people outnumber the pragmatic and such a set of laws would not make it very long. People would worry about the innocent people that would suffer, not for the innocent, but for the fact that they themselves could be accused of a crime they didn't commit.
But think about it, when you worry about something happening don't you do everything in your power to prevent it from happening. You use seat belts and dye your hair, denying your fragile nature and short life span. In the face of potential accusations you would protect everyone around you even your worst enemies.
Eventually, the reasoning behind the behavior could become second nature and the paranoia could evolve into something akin to honor. Wouldn't that be nice, if the world regained it's honor.

Sorry to kill the story before it really had a chance to live, but I have found a DM that is allowing me to play this character, albeit in a slightly altered form and lower level. Perhaps if the game should spark new ideas I will write more, however it seems unlikely considering I got distracted from it just after I began. Maybe I'll just post some mini-scenes from other character ideas I have along the way.

An introduction.....of sorts

Tick, Tick, Tick...

The gnomish clock had lost its tocks agian. Each time he had one of those odd little people in to fix it something else would go wrong. It had never kept accurate time, he had bought it to keep away the silence in the deep hours of the night as he studied. At random intervals through the night a little mechanical bird would spring out of a pair of small doors at the top and whistle an off-key, but merry little tune and crash back into the clock. He was sure that was why it kept breaking, but when he suggested it to those that fixed the thing they all said, "Oh, no sir. Its designed to do that." and then they would go back thier little springs and gears.

This time he decided instead of send for the gnome repairer (who probably broke it again to keep up buisness) he would try magic instead. As he padded down the hall to his library to see if he had the right spell at hand. There was no doubt he had it somewhere, but his library had spilled over into most of the rest of the castle. As he wandered from room to room the strange feeling of being watched came over him. Casually he turned to the mirror in the hall and muttered a spell under his breath that would allow him to see what was watching him. The image in the mirror changed ever so slightly to show more of the hall behind him. Sitting on a low cushioned bench was a calico cat. Mother of most of the other cats that wandered the castle and it grounds killing the mice and rats.

He sighed and shook his head, he was getting jumpy. Seeing enemies in the shadows and danger in his own home. As he turned the hall brightened strangly as if from two very different sources and then he saw them, two blades one of fire and one of energy. Side by side so that one edge of each was touching the other and horizontal to the floor. He saw them start to seperate just as he realized he was looking at them sprouting from his own chest. He was dead before they finished cutting him in half.

A Note To The Readers

Hello and welcome!

If your reading this you either know me, are lost looking for a friend, or curious. I'll tell you right now that I'm a bit quirky, some times irrational, and not at all use to normal schedules, so don't expect any kind of regular updates I'll update when the mood strikes me it may be long it more often just a line or two.

Now that thats out of the way I can get on with the purpose of theis journal, I personally don't think it a good idea to be posting your diary on the WORLD WIDE WEB where EVERYBODY and my brother can read it. You can if you like but thats not the purpose of mine. Mine came about because I play Dungeons & Dragons and created (for fun) a character that no DM would ever let me use. I knew this to begin with but the character design was in my head and I needed to get it out, thus Joe was born in paper form. As I was creating Joe I wrongly assumed once put to paper the idea would loose its grip on me and I would be able to turn to something else. The days went by and still the Character was not leaving my mind, it had taken up residence and was buying furniture and curtains. After a while i decided that to get him to move out Joe would have to find a bigger better place, with a better view. So, here we are me and Joe, I'll right the story you read it and maybe he'll take up residence in somebody else's mind.

The story will be a fantasy using the Dungeons & Dragons materials to suit me. This being my first story it may be a little shaky at first and I my use various styles from various books I have read, sorry you'll just have to deal with it or go away, its not about you its about Joe.

For those of you who are D&D fans no I am not going to post Joe's stats at any time, it would ruin the story.

That being said have a pleasent read and I hope you'll come back.
